Dear Texas Democratic Delegate,
You are cordially invited to join the Muslim Democratic Caucus of Texas for “An Iftar with Democrats” on the first night of the 2016 Texas Democratic Convention, Thursday, June 16th at 8:00 pm at La Villita Maverick Plaza (418 Villita St.) in San Antonio, Texas.
For the past thirteen years the Dallas Chapter of MDCT has hosted local and state Democratic candidates, officials, party leaders and members of the Muslim community in an iftar dinner to break the day’s fast for Muslims in the Islamic month of fasting, Ramadan.
At the 2014 Texas Democratic Convention, the MDCT hosted Democrats from around the state in the first event of its kind at the convention, “A Celebration of Cultures.” Occurring immediately after the convention’s kickoff, many delegates, candidates and party officials enjoyed a festive evening of entertainment representing Muslim cultures near and far with music, singing, dancing, poetry and comedy. It was epic!
This year, with the state convention occurring during Ramadan, we want to share the evening with you as we break our fast (Iftar) and enjoy a traditional Middle Eastern and South Asian dinner and a bit of live music. This will be a wonderful opportunity to connect with fellow Democrats while enjoying a casual evening at the beautiful and historic La Villita Maverick Plaza.
While the dinner is complementary, any donation you may give will be much appreciated.
We look forward to breaking fast with you as your presence will ensure its success!
Also, during the convention please visit our Muslim Democratic Caucus of Texas booth located in the Exhibit Hall in the Alamodome.
In Peace & Democracy,
M. Emad Salem, President
Muslim Democratic Caucus of Texas
